Dwayne Johnson is headed to HBO‘s primetime. The pay cable network has picked up to series half-hour pilot Ballers toplined by the wrestling and movie star in his first major series gig. He is executive producing the series with his Pain & Gain co-star Mark Wahlberg; Wahlberg’s manager/frequent producing partner Steve Levinson, on whose original idea the project is based; showrunner Even Reilly; and Peter Berg, who directed the pilot. Written by Levinson in his pilot-writing debut, Ballers is exploring the lives of a group of former and current football players. Johnson stars as Spencer Strasmore, a retired athlete. The cast includes Omar Benson Miller as Charles, an affable former pro athlete who is searching for his next career; Denzel Washington’s son John David Washington as Ricky, a competitive and highly spiritual pro athlete; Rob Corddry as Joe, a financial advisor who tries really hard to fit in; Troy Garity as Jason, a top-tier sports agent; Donovan Carter as Vernon, a deeply family-oriented pro athlete; Jazmyn Simon as Julie, wife of an ex-pro athlete; Taylor Cole as Michaels, an ESPN sideline reporter who is romantically involved with Spencer; and LeToya Luckett as Tina, widow to one of Spencer’s closest friends.
The series pickup for Ballers, which will start production later this year, comes on the heels of the series order on Tuesday of another half-hour project with marquee stars from a top director and producer, The Brink, starring Jack Black and Tim Robbins. Jay Roach, who directed the pilot, and Jerry Weintraub are executive producing. Both series have been touted as capable of attracting broad audiences, something Johnson already has done in primetime as his WWE alter ego The Rock and on the big screen. He next reprises his role on the Fast & Furious 7 movie, whose production has been delayed by the death of star Paul Walker, and also has feature Hercules and TNT reality series Wake Up Call coming up.
Johnson and Wahlberg’s collaboration on Ballers stems their work together on Michael Bay’s action movie Pain & Gain, while Wahlberg and Levinson recently worked with Berg on his feature Lone Survivor, which starred Wahlberg. HBO is producing Ballers with Wahlberg’s Closest to the Hole Productions, Levinson’s Leverage Entertainment, and Johnson’s 7 Bucks Entertainment. Johnson, Wahlberg, Levinson and Reilly are executive producing along with Rob Weiss (Entourage) and Johnson’s manager Dany Garcia, who runs his production company. Hiram Garcia is co-executive producing, while Levinson’s father, Dave Levinson, and Leverage’s Bret Slater and Peter Sussman will serve as producers alongside Karyn McKarthy (House of Cards). At HBO, Wahlberg and Levinson also produce drama series Boardwalk Empire as well as the upcoming Entourage movie based on the HBO series. They also have breakout reality hit Wahlburgers on A&E Network.

When we last heard about The Ganzfeld Haunting, it was April of last year, and it was still called The Ganzfeld Experiment. But with the new year has come a new title and some early screening news. If you’re in or around LA, you have a chance to see it soon.
The Ganzfeld Haunting, a bold, erotic psychological thriller from director Michael Oblowitz (The Breed), will premiere on February 6th and then run for an exclusive one-week engagement beginning Friday, February 7th, at Laemmle’s Beverly Hills (9036 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, CA).
Are you more of a night owl? Then you can attend special midnight shows at Laemmle’s NoHo 7 (5240 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, CA) on February 6th and 7th.
The film stars Rumer Willis (Sorority Row), Taylor Cole (The Green Hornet), Ryan Donowho (Altitude), Billy Zane, and Dominic Purcell and follows five college psychology students who set out to perform an ESP experiment. Along their path of self-discovery, the characters get sidetracked by hard drugs, sex, and… the supernatural. When a compelling killer steps into the picture and begins to stalk the protagonists, the real craziness begins.

You wouldn’t think making your first birdie in a tournament would be a disappointment, but that’s what happened to me. I was playing in a celebrity event years ago. A Mercedes was up for grabs for anyone who got a hole-in-one on this island green. I used my 9-iron and hit a perfect shot. The ball floated toward the flagstick, dropped on the green and began tracking to the hole. Everyone was quiet, and it felt like a minute had passed as it inched closer and closer and then…the ball went past the cup, stopping an inch or two behind it. My heart broke. Imagine, my first hole-in-one would have been rewarded with a new car! Tapping in for a birdie was dull compared to the heart attack I’d just lived through. [Laughs.] There’s nothing like the excitement and drama of hitting a great golf shot. My girlfriends and I play this executive course—Scholl Canyon in Glendale, Calif. It’s a crazy course built on a landfill. There’s this one hole that no one in our group could ever knock it on the green in regulation. It’s so narrow. But one day, I knocked it on, and my partner and I made a best-ball birdie. We were all tackling each other, rolling around on the green. It was quite a sight. You play, right? Then I’m sure you get the idea.
Best known for roles on “CSI: Miami,” “Supernatural” and “The Glades,” the 29-year-old actress learned to play with her dad in Arlington, Texas.
I’d just like to say, thank you to all our readers and followers, as well as Taylor over the past year that visited Taylor Cole Online! Your support as fans of Taylor means a lot, and that’s the sole purpose of this site – to provide fans with up to date Taylor information and media! I know there are still parts of the gallery that’s missing, but I’m trying my best to fill up all the holes here and there. It’s mainly complete, with the exception of a few old movies that’s been hard to get my hands on a decent quality!
It’s been a wonderful year with y’all and cheers to many more to come
